In Search of Israeli Cuisine is a 2016 documentary directed by Roger Sherman and hosted by James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Solomonov. The film delves into Israel's rich culinary landscape, exploring how over 100 cultures—including Jewish, Arab, Persian, Moroccan, and Russian—have influenced its vibrant food scene. Through visits to bustling markets, innovative restaurants, boutique wineries, and family kitchens, the documentary paints a flavorful portrait of a nation through its cuisine.
The film garnered acclaim on the festival circuit, winning Audience Awards at both the Cherry Hill and Palm Beach Jewish Film Festivals in 2016. It was showcased at over 60 international film festivals, including the Miami, San Francisco, and Atlanta Jewish Film Festivals, often to sold-out audiences. Critics praised its mouthwatering visuals and insightful exploration of cultural identity through food.
